Growing up near Portland Oregon, Julie’s family spent their winters in Hawaii where she learned how to swim before she could even walk. .Julie considers herself part fish and has spent considerable time snorkeling, diving and sailing . Julie started with PSUPA shortly after its creation and was certified by Rob Casey as a flat water instructor. As an experienced Yoga teacher, she quickly integrated these two activities into one.
When a business opportunity presented itself, that so perfectly aligned with their life goals, Julie and Curt closed down their mobile SUP business in Washington to take over ownership of “Undertoe Mexico Stand Up Paddle Board Adventures” a SUP business on the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico paddling in the beautiful waters of the Caribbean. Located in a cruise ship destination town, their business quickly expanded from paddling for a few months out of the year in Washington, to a full time commitment introducing SUP to 1000s of 1st timers.
Since taking on the role of Director for PSUPA starting in Spring 2019, Julie has been focusing on growing the number of supporters who offer members, Pro Discounts, completing the industry’s first SUP Yoga Teachers Training Manual and introducing an environmental piece into the manuals (another industry first).

Based in Mahahual, Mexico (aka – Costa Maya), Curt and his wife Julie run “Undertoe Mexico Stand Up Paddle Board Adventures”, which caters mostly to Cruise Ship passengers wanting to experience SUP for the first time. After taking over as the new owners in 2015, the business quickly introduced new offerings to include, Direct booking from the ships activity catalog, Retreats, Downwind and excursion tours.
Curt, grew up in Washington state as the youngest of six children. He joined the military after high school graduation to explore the world. While Curt was a Marine he married Julie and they spent several years exploring exciting new places. While stationed in Hawaii he became a PADI Certified Divemaster and in the Pacific Northwest, he received American Sailing Association, Coastal Cruising and Catamaran Cruiser certifications
Since taking on the role of Director for PSUPA starting in Spring 2019, Curt has been focusing on introducing the new “Fundamentals” certification for Rental shops, Camps, Tour Guides and resorts. He has also been working towards streamlining processes for instructors and candidates, developed online testing to insure continuity across the association, and growing the number of members by introducing PSUPA into new regions.
